WI Officer Needs Your Help

September 23, 2022

This week, Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne criminally charged Wisconsin DOJ Special Agent Mark Wagner in the nonfatal shooting of a man attempting to flee officers earlier this year. An experienced lawman, Wagner was one of 21 officers from 5 agencies attempting to arrest Quadren Wilson, who was wanted by authorities as part of a multijurisdictional drug investigation and who was later sentenced to 3 years in prison.

On Feb. 3, law enforcement intercepted Wilson as he was driving and decided to pin his car between two law enforcement vehicles. During the maneuver, Wilson brazenly attempted to escape being pinned, so much so that smoke billowed out from his spinning tires.

Wagner told investigators that he saw Wilson reaching under the driver's seat with his left hand and fidgeting with something on the center console with his right. He said Wilson then turned toward him and raised his hands, leading him to believe that Wilson had a gun. Wagner then heard a gunshot and felt something hit him. Thinking Wilson was shooting at him, Wagner fired two shots from his pistol before he fell backward.

Another agent told investigators that he saw Wilson raise a square object that he took to be a gun. After a hole appeared in the driver's side window, with glass shattering outward, the other officer stated his belief that Wilson had fired at Wagner and killed him, so he returned fire.

Wilson went on to survive his injuries and was sentenced to three years in prison in May for multiple drug offenses.

Based upon the foregoing facts from this hectic scene, the Dane County DA has charged Wagner with second-degree recklessly endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon. Many in law enforcement feel that these charges are the result of months of aggressive political pressure in Wisconsin’s most liberal city.

These charges must be fought. In order for Mark to take on this fight, he needs your help. Please consider donating to Mark’s cause through Stand With Wags, a website established by a member of his family that is also in law enforcement. All funds raised will go directly to Mark and his family to cover the costs of his legal defense.

After spending his life upholding the law, Mark must now defend himself for doing what he was trained to do to protect others. He needs your help.
