Milwaukee police officer shot and killed

A Milwaukee police officer was shot and killed on the city's south side early Tuesday while trying to apprehend a robbery suspect.

The officer had been chasing after, and exchanged gunfire with, a 19-year-old man who was also shot and killed after a physical struggle with the officer. The officer was 37 years old and had been with the department for 4 years. 

This marks the second time this year that Wisconsin officers have been shot in the line of duty. On January 18, two officers were shot and wounded while responding to a domestic incident in Racine.
